Benign Changes

Benign growths on the skin, most commonly appear on the hands and feet (verruca vulgaris). They are typically raised, often with a wrinkled surface, and can be painful. Bradavice have the same color as the surrounding skin and can sometimes be found deep within the skin, where their “root” is located.

Chemical agents, liquid nitrogen, and electrocautery are common therapeutic options for removing warts. While they are generally effective, none of these treatments are successful in every case. Frequent recurrence of warts is a common problem, and temporary changes in skin color due to therapy can also occur.

To remove a wart, laser energy is directed directly at its tissue, targeting the small blood vessels that supply the wart. During the treatment, a mild stinging sensation may be felt. If necessary, topical or local anesthesia can be administered, but it is usually not required.
